Sony Projectors

Projector shoot

Sony required a video to highlight the benefits of their new range of projectors, for their website and youtube channel.

The concept was to film projections from Sony projectors, highlighting the projectors’ key aspects within a luxury setting.

With a starting point of a loose styleframe for each of the four scenes, I was given 6 days on location (a manor house in Dorset), with a skeletal crew, to storyboard, plan, make the projections and shoot the footage. It was a tad intense… not much time for trivialities such as sleep.

All effects are projections, which were then filmed (there was no CG on the final footage, only grading). Here’s a brief scene breakdown: scene 1 was an animated pattern projected onto a chandelier; scene 2 was a rainbow projected onto smoke; scene 3 was a Cinema 4D dynamics animation projection-mapped onto a staircase; scene 4 was a generative animation projected onto hanging scrims.
